(Recruitment) International Young Researcher Scholarship Program Based on the Advanced Researcher Development Project

Aims
The Center for Fire Science and Technology, The Tokyo University of Science (TUS) has been selected by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to participate in the Advanced Researcher Development Program. Inviting renowned and young researchers from overseas, the program aims to foster young researchers from Japan and abroad under the leadership and supervision of internationally distinguished researchers, and to contribute to the global environment of research centers.
In order to achive these aims, the Center for Fire Science and Technology is planning to support the invitation of renowned and young researchers from overseas. We intend to seek the enrollment of youg international researches to the Center as short-term scholarship students.

 

Research Fields
Research on Fire Safety Science and Technology
(such as fire dynamics, combustion, smoke behavior, evacuation safety, and fire resistance in fire)

 

Enrollment Criteria
Applicants must be young researchers from an overseas university or other research organization aged around 42 years or younger (including doctoral students), and must satisfy one of the following criteria.
○ Individuals with outstanding academic and personal skills and in good health
○ Persons who are able to conduct their research in English (or Japanese) without any restrictions
○ Persons who possess an international outlook and who are able to contribute to amicable
    relations and goodwill between Japan and other nations

 

Admission Quota
Five persons (in the event of numerous applicants, preference will be given to those in East Asian and Southeast Asian nations and those attending universities which have academic agreements with TUS).

 

Duration
The term of the scholarship will be between three and five months. Researchers must arrive in Japan between January and March of 2010 and can stay up to 30 June 2010 at the latest.
